Wise warriors don’t travel…

I’ve toyed with the phrase ‘pilgrim warrior’ in my mind and heart for a few years now. For tonight, I have this thought:

“Wise warriors do not travel alone”

I met someone from the Sudan this weekend – she is a student at a local college and her mother travelled with her. There’s safety in numbers.

As Christians we are not meant to be alone in the spiritual journey of faith – church metaphors include those of ‘army’ and ‘family’, both of which speak of being with other people. Even Jesus created a ‘band of brothers’ in the 12 disciples. Travelling alone isn’t really encouraged for followers of Jesus. Even when Jesus sent out the 72 in Luke’s gospel he sent them out in twos.

Don’t go through life and faith alone – the wise warrior travels with company. There’s strength in numbers.
