Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
-Colossians 3:23 (NLT)
It is so easy to separate work from faith – a habit widely practiced! But the advice from the Apostle is to regard every piece of work we do as important. He states treat it as if you are doing it for Jesus!
As followers of Jesus EVERYTHING we so should glorify him – even work! When you consider that roughly a third of your living hours are at work it highlights the importance of doing it well.
This week try imagining that Jesus is your manager/supervisor:
How would this change your work ethic and practice?
What advice could he give you to improve your performance?
Let your working life also be for Jesus’ glory.
We just talked about this subject as a group last night. You’re right, it is so easy to draw a line between being a “worker” and being a Christian. But our work is meant to be just as much worship as our communion together on Sunday morning. We are the church all of the time, therefore our whole lives can and should be one long, active time of worship. Jesus didn’t save us just for Sundays.
